“You sure this is the place man?” a low lazy voice asks, unsure of his partners
research.
“Of course I’m sure! No one here but some little old lady, and she’s outta’ town.
Check it, there’s no car in the driveway, lights are out. We’re golden man,” the second
figure reassures.
“Alright, drive around the block one more time to be sure.”
“You tryin’ to get us caught? Don’t you think that’ll look shady as h***?”
“Alright, alright, Park and let’s get this done.”
The car came to a stop, its brakes screeched and from a calm, deep sleep Spike shot up
and began to exude a low, deep snarl. He ran to the front door and barked.
“What Spike?!” the barking continued, “Its 3 in the morning shut up and go to sleep!”
But the beast was steadfast in his quest; he continued to bark like a madman until his
master finally got up to see what was wrong.
“What the h*** do you…What’s going on?”
He saw a black van sitting in the middle of the road, on but with its lights off and
what seemed to be two men talking. He watched intently and wondered what action to
take. The men opened their respective doors and began to eye up his neighbor’s home.
“Something’s not right here,” he thought to himself and Spike began to growl again.
“Go get uhm boy,” and he flung his door open. The shady men turned with a start
as the 100 lb. Spike barreled into the night. He growled and barked like a rapid wolf, with
a snarl that could scare the devil. The two men jumped into their car as fast as they could
and peeled out into the night.
