Epic Rant

While I am generally a happy and optimistic person, a LOT of things just fill me to the core with rage. Mostly my generation, I mean seriously what the h*** is wrong with these people? No one has any type of values or moral fiber anymore. Being stupid and ignorant is what’s “in” now? And people call me a freak. I can’t stand how uneducated my generation is, in my English class last year, a girl actually thought a presidential term was two years as opposed to four. It astounds me that people have no idea how our government works or what’s really going on. Even the entertainment of today is getting progressively more stupid, like “Reality” TV, tell me exactly what’s real about watching cheap tramps pull each others hair out? And as a musician myself, I am beyond disgusted with today’s music scene. It’s all the same recycled garbage playing on the radio or MTV, there’s no art left in popular music, no original concepts, no thought provoking or even positive lyrics. While I am making a generalization and there are few artists doing something original or of artistic value, the majority of what is popular now is either generic power pop, whiny “I hate everything” screaming bands or something I shudder to identify as Rap music. A majority of these “artists” do the same things musically and offer no positive message of any sort, and the “Rap” of today has absolutely no intellectual value, while there have always been Rap songs idolizing violence or objectifying women a lot of Old School Rap had many calls for social change. The majority of youth of today have such amazing opportunities at their feet but choose to be lazy, uneducated and expect the world to be handed to them on a silver God d***** platter. Another thing I can’t stand is ignorance, for example the fact that homosexuality is such a taboo subject among most of our society. It’s beyond ridiculous that two people who are committed to one another and love each other enough to want to be married are denied that right because they are of the same sex, who the hell are we to judge? Our country’s divorce rate is at what? Sixty percent now? That means people who get married and stay together are in the freaking minority! Yet conservatives, religious fanatics, and ignorant hate mongers decide that these people don’t deserve the same rights as “normal” people because they’re perceived as different. Why should it matter to them if same sex couples were to get married? No one’s forcing them to be a homosexual, and don’t give me that “sanctity of marriage” crap, the sanctity of marriage went out the flipping window when you could get married in Las Vegas by a priest in a man-thong. I could continue ranting on things of this nature for pages and pages, but I would like to avoid offending anyone any further than I probably already have, and this is a creative writing class not a debate club forum.

More wonderful news...

It also seems I've sprained my wrist, which for me (as a drummer) is one of the worst things that could happen, adding insult to injury, quite literally I might add, I have auditions and recording sessions coming up which I would love to be practicing for, but it seems luck isn't on my side once again..

Just one of those days...

Ever had one of those days where you just can't catch a break? Without diving into to many details as it stands right now i have a B+ in Psychology instead of the A+ I worked for all quarter and deserve, because I was a good friend and gave a friend who was on the verge of tears some much needed emotional guidance..you would think a Psychology teacher would understand my plight and cut me some slack considering not only my perfect grade, but the fact i missed a makeup opportunity to practice Psychology in the form of therapy! Something I do quite often for any who seek my advice(which tends to be many). But no, Mr Chapman blew off my attempt to explain myself and said I should have been more responsible, funny how helping others is so readily ignored by a man teaching a class about a subject meant to do just that. Irony at its finest.

Sound Stories

“You sure this is the place man?” a low lazy voice asks, unsure of his partners

research.

“Of course I’m sure! No one here but some little old lady, and she’s outta’ town.

Check it, there’s no car in the driveway, lights are out. We’re golden man,” the second

figure reassures.

“Alright, drive around the block one more time to be sure.”

“You tryin’ to get us caught? Don’t you think that’ll look shady as h***?”

“Alright, alright, Park and let’s get this done.”

The car came to a stop, its brakes screeched and from a calm, deep sleep Spike shot up

and began to exude a low, deep snarl. He ran to the front door and barked.

“What Spike?!” the barking continued, “Its 3 in the morning shut up and go to sleep!”

But the beast was steadfast in his quest; he continued to bark like a madman until his

master finally got up to see what was wrong.

“What the h*** do you…What’s going on?”

He saw a black van sitting in the middle of the road, on but with its lights off and

what seemed to be two men talking. He watched intently and wondered what action to

take. The men opened their respective doors and began to eye up his neighbor’s home.

“Something’s not right here,” he thought to himself and Spike began to growl again.

“Go get uhm boy,” and he flung his door open. The shady men turned with a start

as the 100 lb. Spike barreled into the night. He growled and barked like a rapid wolf, with

a snarl that could scare the devil. The two men jumped into their car as fast as they could

and peeled out into the night.

Books.

The way I see it things break down like this, there are two types of books in this world, good books and bad books, I like good books. I like to read realistic stories with characters who feel real, like I commented on Mrs. Morrison's blog my favorite book is The Catcher in the Rye. I like to read philosophical texts, I've read the Bible both old and new testaments, excerpts from the Koran, and several Buddhist texts. I enjoy the work of the classic Greek philosophers like Plato, and Aristotle. And more modern philosophers like Emerson and especially Einstein he's a personal favorite. Though above all else my favorite reading is always comic books, though I'm sure most people wouldn't count them as books, I love the ridiculous storylines and dynamic characters. I love Marvel comics, because they tend to develop their characters personalities as well as their powers or abilities; characters like Spiderman, who when he isn’t fighting crime or supervillans, is a normal nerdy kid from queens who has relationship and financial problems, or Iron Man, who as Tony Stark is a brilliant scientist, and a raging alcoholic. Above all I like stories with characters you can get behind.

Today I'll leave you with a quote.

"There comes a time in every Man's, every Women's life where they forget how to indulge, to let go and enjoy oneself, they forget how to dream. This time is called "Maturity" by most, time to "Grow Up." Those who reach this age, but remember how to dream, well I call them enlightened."
